Tomás Hardiman

Tomás Hardiman holds a B.Comm from NUI Galway and an M.A. in Film and Television Studies from Dublin City University. His 30-year professional career in arts management began as General Manager of Mercury Theatre in Toronto and he was Marketing/Publicity Director of the Abbey Theatre from 1984 to 1993. After returning to Galway he produced numerous short films and documentaries and spent five years as Managing Director of Galway Arts Centre and the Cúirt International Festival of Literature. He subsequently managed diverse projects for many of Ireland's leading arts organizations. He likes to play violin and guitar and to sing. In 2013 he completed three years' training to become a teacher of the Alexander Technique, the principles of which he is eager to apply in helping people to find their own solutions to problems such as pain, stress, and obstacles to performance.

The most remarkable thing I gained from my Alexander Technique training was how learning to release unnecessary tension and how to rediscover natural poise could improve my very experience of life. In general, I now automatically release tension as it happens and in the process encounter a lovely sense of freedom in myself. This is a far cry from the way I experienced life prior to discovering Alexander.
