Philip O'Dea

I first came upon the Alexander Technique in 2009, as I had a major back injury due to a fall through a roof, and I felt that the Alexander Technique would help me. I took individual lessons, which initially helped the physical effects from the accident removing the pain and discomfort, then being so interested in the technique I kept going as I was being helped, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally, looking at habits that were there before the accident, becoming more confident and grounded in my being, opening my peripheral vision and breathing in a new way. Then between September 2015 and December 2019 I trained in the Alexander Teacher Training College in Moycullen, Co Galway, to become an Alexander Technique Teacher to continue my learning/unlearning and to help others.

It becomes second nature to use Alexander Technique in everyday life situations, whether I am walking in nature, digging and weeding in the garden, throwing out a hose line as a fireman, sitting anywhere, or singing and dancing. I am a happier person and the journey continues. Alexander Technique can bring about a change in your life.

I am an assistant teacher on an ongoing weekly course. I've seen people change through the Technique. I am available for talks, individual lessons and group workshops.
