I had my first lesson in the Alexander Technique back in the year 2000 when I was living in Australia. It was after a brief illness, and I was lacking in self-confidence and knew nothing about myself physically. The teacher gave me practical skills, and the big thing that emerged was the amount of tension I was holding in my body, even though I had no real experience of pain.
My habits at my workplace had to be addressed and this helped me greatly, but it also opened by mind and heart to who I was and what I wanted out of life.
I returned home to Ireland, enrolled on the course in Galway, and qualified in 2005. Many years later I can easily say, 'I have never looked back'.
I bring a very practical approach to my teaching of the technique to others. We all have such busy lives, and the biggest gift I can give to others is the ability to find pause, and to help them better know themselves both inside and out.
