David Gutierrez Beired
It was during his training at drama school in 1993 that David first discovered the Alexander Technique and realised the importance of good use and how bad habits could affect the quality of his work as an actor and, indeed, his life. He worked for many years following his training as an actor in Spain.
David received a grant from the Spanish Government to cover his training as an Alexander Technique teacher. He went to London, where he completed a three year course and graduated from the 'Essex Alexander School' as a teacher of the Alexander Technique.
Professionally, he has worked as a private Alexander Technique Teacher since 2004, and he enjoys the work very much. As well as running a busy private practice, David has taught in various Drama and Music schools both in the UK and in Spain and has a particular interest in performance and the Alexander Technique.
Currently, David works as a tutor for the Alexander Technique at Trinity College’s ‘The Lir Academy of Dramatic Art’ in Dublin, where he is teaching acting students how to incorporate the Alexander Technique into their performance and daily lives. He also has his private practice here, as well as in Kilkenny.
As a qualified Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor, David also teaches both group and individual classes where he incorporates the principles of the Alexander technique.
He plays the guitar in his spare time and enjoys gardening. He has walked many mountains in the Pyrenees in Spain and enjoys walking many in Ireland too.
